Troy Thomas has been serving the Lead Pastor at Oakbrook Church since October 2015. He is passionate about seeing ordinary people come alive in Christ. Troy grew up in Cedarburg, Wisconsin and went to college on a football scholarship. After a short stint with the Washington Redskins, Troy married Liz, his high school sweetheart and got a “real” job working with technology and then as a management consultant before becoming a pastor.
Troy committed his life to Jesus Christ as a young man when he “accidently” responded to an altar call at a Fellowship of Christian Athletes meeting. Since that decision, Troy’s life hasn’t been challenge-free or failure-exempt. But since then, Troy has definitely known a peace that passes his own understanding.
Troy has a bachelor’s degree from Northern Iowa, an MBA from George Washington University, a Masters in Christian Studies from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School, and is currently doing graduate studies at Rockbridge Seminary. Troy and Liz are parents to three young adults. Troy is an aspiring fly fisherman and leads groups to Israel every year.
